Thursday, January 23, 2020
For the third concert in this series titled 'A Celebration of the King of Instruments,' we are happy to welcome organist Dr. Michael Ging.
Michael Ging is a church musician, organist, and entrepreneur.
Increasingly in demand as a concert artist, Dr. Ging’s performances throughout the US and Mexico garner critical and audience acclaim. The American Organist hailed his recital opening the 2015 L’Organo Recital Series as “flawless,” noted that his program “showed off instrument and player to perfection,” recognized his “finestyle,” and described his interpretation of Töpfer’s Sonata in D Minor as “a rare gem.” His ‘19-20 season includes recitals in France, Germany, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Texas. This follows a busy ‘18-19 season in which he performed Atlanta, Austin, Santa Fe, Spartanburg, Washington, D.C., and throughout the Houston area.
Since being appointed Organist/Choirmaster at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church (Folly Beach, SC) at age fourteen, Dr. Ging has become one of the most active liturgical organists in the United States. As Director of Music/Organist-in-Residence at New Hope Lutheran Church (Missouri City) and as Associate Director of Music/Organist at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (Houston), Dr. Ging inspires thousands of worshipers each week and plays for over 400 liturgies each year.
In addition to his rigorous performance schedule, Dr. Ging is Managing Partner of Seven Eight Records, LLC, a company that operates Seven Eight Records
The concert will be followed by a reception where the audience may enjoy refreshments and fellowship and an opportunity to greet the performer.
