ST. John the Baptist weekly classes - children and youth

Weekly Classes for Children and Youth

There are many wonderful opportunities for children and youth, families and adults, to grow in their Catholic Faith and their personal relationship with God.  We offer different methods of formation to best serve each child and teen based on where they are in their development.

For our littlest disciples we offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 for 3, 4, and 5 year olds.  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 is also offered to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders.  Times, dates, and descriptions of each sessions can be found below.

Grades 4 and 5 use the Faith and Life Series by Ignatius Press.  This textbook series is a great foundation for the classroom content. The catechists create an engaging environment with prayer, role play, review games, praying with Scripture, music, and much more. More info can be found below about this programming.

Middle School faith formation is offered to our 6th-8th graders.  This curriculum is a youth ministry format to engage the hearts and minds of middle schoolers.  Check out this website for more information about the programs used in our curriculum.

Confirmation Preparation requires ongoing Faith Formation.  In order to be part of the SJB Confirmation Prep Program teens must be enrolled in a catholic school, enrolled (and participating) in SJB Faith Formation for 9th and 10th graders, or using an approved home schooled curriculum.  (the 10th Grade Faith Formation currently uses the Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth.  It follows the four pillars of the Adult Catechism: The Profession of Faith (Creed); The Celebration of the Christian Mystery (Sacrament); Life in Christ (Moral Living); and Christian Prayer (Prayer).  Check out more info below.

We have many other faith opportunities for the families at St. John's including, but not limited to, our Gift of Self Service Night, Giving Tree, St. Nicholas Party, and March Food Drive, Vacation Bible School (summer event) to name just a few!

*Financial hardship should never be a barrier for families to participate in our programming.  Scholarships are available.  Please complete the tuition assistance form found in the 'Documents' page to the left (or by clicking here).
