Welcome to St. John the Baptist Catholic School

Welcome and thank you for considering St. John the Baptist School for your child. The mission of St. John the Baptist School is to provide academic excellence in the Catholic learning tradition. Our vision is to strengthen faith, build character, encourage success and foster the uniqueness of each individual student. This mission is accomplished by offering an environment where Catholic spiritual tradition integrates academic excellence with a personal rapport between faculty, students, administration and families.

Why St. John the Baptist School? Overwhelming research shows that when students are part of a smaller community they are more successful. We, at St. John’s, create an environment of personalization. We are closely involved in each of our students’ lives and promote community. Our personalization offers respect, which in turns results in fewer discipline issues. Smaller class sizes allow greater achievement. Our students’ days are centered around this achievement. We are able to offer care and assistance to those in need. You don’t get lost in the shuffle at St. John’s. Our fine teaching staff has flexibility to offer necessary tools to teach each student with high expectations.

We hope you find the information in this packet informative and helpful. Please contact the school office (952.474.5812) or visit our website (www.stjohns-excelsior.org) for further information.

About St. John the Baptist Catholic School

St. John the Baptist Catholic School was founded in 1951. It is part of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Community, which was established in 1903. The School sustains a reputation for high academic achievement, a close community atmosphere and a desire to teach children to lead a Christ-centered life in a diverse world. In this large metropolitan area St. John's provides an opportunity to educate your child in a small school setting.

What makes the greatest difference, parents always wonder, in kids loving school versus not; in growing and developing in ways that protect their childhoods, sustain them through adolescence and deliver them, ready and whole, into adulthood?

At St. John’s, we believe the difference is joy plus faith plus knowledge, and we celebrate each every day. Joy isn’t reserved for recess. Faith isn’t limited to weekly Mass. Knowledge isn’t bound by textbooks. They’re everywhere at St. John’s and practiced by everyone.

Joy. Faith. Knowledge.
They’re the St. John’s difference.
Witness them in your child.
